A High Court in Abuja has issued a significant ruling restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising the outcome of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) upcoming 2025 National Convention.
Justice James Omotosho ruled that the PDP failed to meet legal requirements for conducting the convention, citing evidence that no valid congresses were held in some states, violating party and electoral laws.
This decision throws fresh uncertainty into the PDP’s political calendar and could reshape its internal power dynamics ahead of the 2027 elections.
