Richinel "Mr. Babalú" Kirindongo (r.i.p.) was one of Curaçao's best known singer, percussion player, band leader and showman. He was one of the leaders of the band BESS (Babalú, Eddy Mar, Salsa y Sabor) which was one of the musically best bands from Curaçao. In 1987 Richinel became 'Rei di Tumba' (Tumba King (title given to the winner of the Tumba festival)). Richinel was also an internationally known and respected artist.
