PFA YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR SINCE 1974 - 2022

The Professional Footballers' Association Young Player of the Year is an annual honor presented to the young player who is deemed to have been the best of the season in English football. It is sometimes referred to as the PFA Young Player of the Year or simply the Young Player of the Year. In the past, the age limit was 23, which prompted media criticism over whether a player who was 24 at the end of the season could truly be considered "young" in football terms. Starting in 2021, players must have been 21 or younger as of the 1 July immediately preceding the start of the season.
The Professional Footballers' Association (PFA), the players' organization, holds a vote among its members to determine the recipient of the award, which has been given out since the 1973–74 season. Kevin Beattie, a defender for Ipswich Town, was the inaugural recipient of the honor. Phil Foden is the honor's current recipient; he received it on June 9, 2022.
