Welcome to the wild, flavorful, and ever-changing capital of Ethiopia – Addis Ababa. I was only in town for a few days, staying in the CMC area, but I packed in as much as I could — food, people, late nights, and city life. Addis never fails to hit you with energy, flavor, and contrast. From vibrant street corners to relaxing escapes just outside the city, this trip had it all.

🍔 Food & Vibes in Addis AbabaThe food scene is changing fast. I checked out Al Diwal, an Arabic-style restaurant in Summit — great food, lovely setup. If you're into burgers, Addis delivers! I hit up Fire (recently reopened, also in Summit) — solid choice. And Queen Burger in Bole? Absolutely worth it.
☕ Coffee, Culture & ContrastAddis is a city of deep contrasts — flashy new buildings and parks side by side with visible poverty. Most locals I spoke with are excited about the changes, but many also feel that these developments aren’t truly benefiting the everyday person. It’s a city of the haves and have-nots, no doubt.
🛏️ Quick Escape to Debre Zeyit (Bishoftu)To balance the fast pace of Addis, I took a night out at Kuriftu Resort & Spa in Debre Zeyit (also known as Bishoftu) — just an hour’s drive from the capital. Total peace. The lakes, the spa, the stillness — the perfect recharge.

💬 Why I Keep Coming BackThe city, the people, the food — and yes, the beautiful chaos — I can’t get enough. Addis Ababa keeps calling me back, and I’m completely in love with it.
