The River Part Two. From Sea to Source.

Описание к видео The River Part Two. From Sea to Source.

The rain didn't stop until 9am, and I was seriously thinking of pulling the plug and heading home. But the forecast was good for later on, so I just chilled out under the bivvy and read my book. Day two took me by surprise, the birds that I captured were amazing, many that I couldn't identify through the LCD of the camera and no chance with my eyes. Number one had to be the Peregrine Falcon with chick. Loads of Buzzard and Red Kite and right on Q a Kestrel just as I was about to close the video out. Ultimately the three King Fishers within an hour of breaking camp, two came through just like a Spitfire and a Hurricane, made me laugh out loud and another within a mile or so. Of course I didn't stand a chance of capturing any of them but it felt so good and I knew it was going to be one of those days. The sun came out just before Meonstoke, a lovely village with a cracking church, 11c as are all the churches along the Meon, one or two even older. Turns out that this area was one of the last in the UK to be Christianised and it was Saint Wilfrid who came here in 682 and founded all the churches along the banks of the river. This walk is actually a recognised Pilgrimage (In the steps of Saint Wilfrid) The Meon Valley Pilgrim Trail. Had I known about old Wilfrid I'm sure that would have been the title of this video, but I didn't have a clue until I reached Meonstoke and read about it there.
All in all a very special walk, a beautiful vibe through both days. My plan is to get out further afield for my next trip, maybe a coastal path or even a mountain range to explore.
