This process requires meticulous attention to detail and high skill to ensure smooth opening and closing and prevent sagging over time. The craftsman pre-drills a space in the wood to accommodate the hinge's "ring" (shaft). This recessed drilling allows the hinge to fit snugly within the wood, enhancing aesthetics and load-bearing capacity. Adjusting the fit: You can see the craftsman gently tapping with a hammer to check for looseness. The hinge must fit perfectly into the wood to prevent wobbling during use. Securing with pins: After positioning the ring, the craftsman uses pins or screws that run through the wood grain to lock the hinge securely, preventing it from coming loose under the heavy weight of the door.
