Today’s modern, hybrid, and refactored ERP applications demand an approach to deploy applications in any scenario, inclusive of running on premises, in cloud, hybrid, and increasingly in cloud between different cloud providers. In line with this business requirement, Microsoft has partnered with Oracle. Both cloud providers have peered their respective clouds with very high throughput ultra-low latency interconnects. ERP applications are excellent candidates for cross-cloud connectivity and include E1, PeopleSoft, Ellucian Banner, Epic, and others.
This real-world case study will introduce learners to the concept of integrating and refactoring applications between the Azure and Oracle clouds. We’ll show actual technical architectures used for the above-mentioned applications along with the cost benefit and opportunity cost analysis. Then we’ll dive into a behind the scenes architecture between Azure and Oracle, as well as the various technical practices and techniques used to ensure project success. Actual performance metrics from a real-world production client’s ERP system in relation to the cross-cloud connectivity will be revealed. Finally, we’ll demonstrate an inter-connected pair of Azure and Oracle cloud subscriptions.
