Bronze Night aftermath, Nochnoi Dozor members meeting with Peeter Ernits, the chairman of Estonian Journalists' Union. In Tallinn 22.01.2009. In Russian. Dozor member complains that Russians in Estonia cannot understand the messages of Estonian president. Ernits explains that the easiest way to communicate with Estonian president is in English as even Estonians cannot understand him. It may be that even the translators who translate from Estonian to Russian cannot understand the messages. Ernits says that being a journalist is very interesting in Estonia, you can hear unbeleivable stories, like those concerning Russians in Estonia. Dozor member asks about beating people during the Bronze Night and that nobody was charged. Estonian media didn't cover those cases as if it was normal. Ernits tells that this cannot be said about all the media. He says that all the chief editors of largest media outlets had regular lunches with the prime minister and after the Bronze Night there was a meeting held in a restaurant in Tallinn Old Town and the PM Andrus Ansip had some hard talk with journalists about the Bronze Night. The chief editor of business newspaper Äripäev was very angry, that it was harmful for Estonian economy. Prime minister said that it didn't harm economy. Editors of Maaleht (Ernits) and Eesti Ekspress (Priit Hõbemägi) were also criticizing government. Editors of Postimees, Päevaleht and Õhtuleht were friendly. So it cannot be said that all the media is the same. Ernits admits that there was very few analysis about the Bronze Night crisis in Estonian media. Ernits says that he is preparing a book about the Bronze Night. The idea came from Priit Hõbemägi.
