The Ford Capri was launched in 1969 and enjoyed a cult following in the UK from birth to death in 1987. Copying the American Mustang formula of using saloon car mechanicals in a stylish coupe, it made an exotic sports car aspirational for the everyman. From the 3000GT Mk1, to the 2.8 Injection, RS3100, Tickford Turbo or humble 1300 Pinto, the Capri’s mass appeal remains to this day as it achieves valuable classic status.
