Here are three unique methods for adding a hemispherical dome shape on top of a cylinder (or any other circular face) in just about any modern, parametric CAD package (Onshape, Inventor, Solidworks, etc.). While I use Onshape, the steps will be very similar in other software.

They include revolving a sketch with a conic, lofting to a point, and using direct editing (or extrusion) in combination with parametric filleting. The tutorial shows various dome types, including G2 continuous curvature surfaces, conics with adjustable shapes, and a perfectly hemispherical, rounded dome on the cylinder.

Along the way, I give some tips for using conics, end conditions for lofts, defining planes and sketches when working with cylinders, and other tips and tricks.
