Attention all Magic The Gathering fans! Big news has just been announced that will change the format we all know and love forever. Wizards of the Coast is altering how Standard rotates to reinvigorate the format, and it's exciting news.

Starting in 2023, they're skipping rotation and resuming it in 2024, making cards from sets like Midnight Hunt legal for an extra year. This means that Standard will consist of between 8 and 12 sets with around 1,000 more cards in play, leading to less drastic changes as new sets are released. Wizards of the Coast believes that this change will help to revitalize Standard and attract more players to the rotating format, but it also means that the power-level of Standard will increase, with players being able to play the best ramp, removal, and creatures of the past three years, rather than just the last two.
