Roy Taylor once represented Ireland in Eurovision in Dublin in 1988 with his band Jump The Gun. They lost that year to someone named Céline Dion! Nearly 30 years to the day after the highs of Eurovision, Roy was given the heart-breaking diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2018.

After being told he may never sing again, Roy decided to roll up his
sleeves and use his musical talents to raise awareness for MND.

However, it was shortly after Roy’s MND diagnosis in 2018, he came across a gentle giant with a great sense of humour and an infectious positivity talking about his own recent MND diagnosis. That man was the great Doddie Weir. Roy took huge inspiration from Doddie after realising they shared the
same goal – to defeat MND once and for all.

Roy has now once again called upon The MND Assassins, made up of Ireland’s finest musicians, to record a new spine-tingling epic anthem for Doddie himself! “Doin’ it for Doddie” elicits the infectious positivity Doddie has shown to the world, giving all those suffering from MND something they need the most, hope. So sing and cheer, let Scotland hear, we’re Doin’ it for Doddie!

“Doin’ it for Doddie” is set to be released Friday 22nd January and will be available on all digital music platforms. All proceeds from the sales of the streams and downloads of the song will be donated to the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.
