Today we’re installing some Dunlop flush mount strap locks. I love these, they sit inside the guitar body and look super sleek and low profile. I start by drilling 7/64” hole 1 1/4” deep - you can see where I have the bit marked with tape so I know how far to go. Drilling this one behind the finger board is the most stressful part of this install. Once that’s done, we have to drill a 3/8” hole that’s 1/2” deep. Since we’re going into wood, I’m starting off with a fresh brad bit. I tape this at 1/2”. Once I get the initial hole started, I’m switching over standard bit, just because it goes a bit faster. After that, I just have to drop these into the holes I made and screw them in. I use a little Carmex around the screw to get it into the hole. Do not over tighten these, or you will crack the poly finish on your guitar.
