It’s very nearly May. How on earth we’ve arrived at this month in 2022 already is anyone’s guess. But to celebrate May.. first up we have May Day, otherwise known as International Workers Day / International Labour Day.

To celebrate, we thought we’d highlight how the different cultures around the world are celebrating this day.. so let’s get goin’..

May Day represents the day that the month of May begins.. and because it’s such a significant month in many cultures, it’s more than cause for a party or two.
Labour Day sees a whole host of celebrations and it’s actually making a comeback in many locations over the world.

✅ The History of May Day

It all began in 1889 when the day was chosen to be the date of ‘International Workers' Day’ to commemorate the Haymarket affair in Chicago and the struggle for an eight-hour working day. It sounds a bit complicated.. but hey, the facts are the facts, right?
