We know that it isn’t “only hair” ❤️ September is Alopecia Awareness month and we want to educate the wider public! ⬇️

🚫 Don’t instantly assume somebody has an illness such as cancer if they have hair loss

🚫 If somebody wants to talk about their alopecia with you, don’t say something like “on the bright side, at least you’re not ill”

🚫 Don’t offer advice on hair regrowth if you’re not a hair loss professional (rosemary oil might have worked for your friend, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to work for someone else)

🚫 Don’t joke about baldness or thinning. Even light humor can be harmful

💙 Do listen without judgement & accept that you can’t understand how hair loss feels unless you have experienced it… BUT you can empathise and offer support

💙 Do be supportive without making it the focus: “I like your style today” / “that colour really suits you” compliment choices, not hair status
