This week in Wednesday's Words To Live By we read from the Amplified Bible Classic Edition. In the first few verses we read that our faith when met with trials/trouble produces endurance! We also read about being a listener and a doer! I memorized this chapter(in the KJV) as a teen and God has brought these verses back to mind many times over the years! It helps to remember when I'm going through struggles that these times are like my spirit "lifting weights". The testing of my faith develops patience, endurance, steadfastness! The more I go to the gym and work my muscles the stronger they are for whatever I need them for! So it goes with my faith! As I go through tests, hurts, struggles, changes and rely on God and trust Him and His word I get stronger! I don't get ruffled by trouble as easy because I am stronger ! I also love that we can ask Him for wisdom and He will give it to us if we believe! We just have to ask!!! I love the example of a double minded man...he is like a wave of the sea! Driven with the wind and tossed! When we are at the ocean and I see the waves tossing from the wind I think of this verse. Someone who has no faith is unstable and constantly blown around by every trial, every struggle, every temptation. They are unreliable. I think of how we can respond emotionally to a situation or we can trust God, do it His way and the wind/waves won't blow us down! I also love the last part of this chapter!!! My interpretation is this...Rules, does and don'ts don't impress God. What He wants to see in us is someone who listens and then does what His Word says! Someone who reaches out and helps those in need and doesn't let the world dirty his mind and heart.
