The rehabilitation program that we offer at A Forever Recovery is designed to help our patients to uncover and address the underlying issues that are causing their addictive behaviors. Rather than simply treating the symptoms of their substance abuse, we help them to dig deep, through personal inventory and discovery, to identify and examine the past traumas that might be a factor in their drug abuse or alcoholism. With our effective core program, known as Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), supplemented with various options that build on the strong foundation in recovery provided by the MRT program, we offer one of the most thorough and successful addiction recovery strategies available today. Concentrating equally on healing the three main aspects of the individual, Body, Mind, and Spirit, our patients are able to discover the path to a completely new lifestyle, free from the bonds of addiction to drugs or alcohol, with a lasting recovery long after they graduate from our rehabilitation center.
Steven came to AFR from Long Island, NY, struggling with an addiction to heroin. “I was on death’s doorstep,” he shared with us. “I knew that if I didn’t get help, I was days away from death.” After his time in our medically supervised detox clinic, Steven got to straight to work, immersing himself in MRT and the other program options that he had decided on. It didn’t take long before he started to see a difference in himself. Just before the day of his graduation from our recovery center, he happily agreed to give his testimonial, and told us about how he was a completely different person from when he first walked through our doors. “Tomorrow, I’m graduating,” he said. “I’m excited. I’m excited to get my life back. I’m excited to give my parents their son back, I’m excited to give my girlfriend her boyfriend back, be the real man I was supposed to be.”
The difference that the program at AFR makes in the lives of our patients isn’t just a matter of helping them to get clean and sober, to get them off of drugs and away from alcohol and then to send them on their way. The true purpose of the recovery program at our treatment facility is to show them the tools that they need to remain clean and sober after they leave our halls and rooms. It is to help them to realize that they have a personal responsibility in their successful recovery, and to help them find the strength and ability to face life head-on, without resorting to using drugs or alcohol. “People come here and they graduate, and they say AFR saved their lives,” Steven told us. “I don’t believe that. I think I saved my life and AFR just gave me the tools to do that.” And that is exactly what we do here.
