Provincial Apex Committee Meeting
A significant meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Sohail Afridi. The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, the Corps Commander Peshawar, the Chief Secretary, the Inspector General of Police, and senior civil, military, and law-enforcement officials.
At the outset of the meeting, Fateha was offered for civilians, security forces, and personnel of other law-enforcement agencies who embraced martyrdom in various incidents, and rich tributes were paid to the martyrs.
The meeting reviewed the overall security situation, particularly the recent increase in terrorist incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and deliberated on a comprehensive strategy for the elimination of anti-state elements and the restoration of lasting peace and stability.
The forum decided that for the success of a comprehensive counter-terrorism policy, joint consultation, mutual cooperation, and effective coordination among all political parties, public representatives, community elders, and the federal government are essential.
In this regard, the meeting resolved with firm determination that the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will utilize all available resources—including the Army, Police, CTD, and other institutions—and will not hesitate to make any sacrifice.
This long-term strategy will ensure identification and elimination of all drivers of terrorism and, as a result, restore public confidence so that the government and the people can jointly ensure national security and development.
The agenda of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is that good governance and public welfare are the key factors that can unite the nation against terrorism. In the first phase, terrorism-affected areas will be transformed into model good-governance districts, and through the utilization of all government resources, deprivations will be addressed by providing development initiatives, social services, and economic opportunities.
Under a structured program, special packages will be provided in these areas for security, communications, health, education, employment, basic facilities, and other essential services.
The forum decided that for sustainable stability, in areas where temporary displacement has taken place, the government will ensure complete care, rehabilitation, and provision of basic necessities to the affected people, so that this temporary hardship becomes the foundation for future peace, development, and prosperity.
Their dignified return is the top priority of the government.
“Peace is our foremost priority, and no compromise will be made on it,” said the Chief Minister.
“For maintaining peace and law and order, the civil government, administration, Pakistan Army, and other law-enforcement agencies are on the same page and will continue joint efforts,” the Chief Minister added.
“This is our collective war, and it can only be won through collective efforts,” the Chief Minister concluded.
