FUTURE UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE: AGADIR IKOUNKA | WE VISITED IT FIRST | MOROCCO TRAVEL GUIDE

Описание к видео FUTURE UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE: AGADIR IKOUNKA | WE VISITED IT FIRST | MOROCCO TRAVEL GUIDE

We are in the Souss-Massa region, in a small town not too far from Agadir - the major Moroccan city on the Atlantic Ocean.

What's curious is that the name "Agadir" comes from the Amazigh (Berber) language and it means "wall", or "compound." Agadir refers to the communal granaries that were popular in Morocco in the past.

Today we explore one of these communal granaries, more specifically the Agadir Ikounka, named after the tribe that built it and used it for many years.

Follow us on this tour uncovering a part of Moroccan history that, we've been told by many locals, not a lot of people know!

Also, let us know if you enjoyed learning about it as much as we did!
