U.S. Army Sgt. Christopher Kurtz enlisted in February 2009 to serve in the defense of freedom and honor the legacy of relatives who had answered the call. In June of 2010, Christopher deployed to Afghanistan with the 101st Airborne Division and almost immediately endured combat daily. December of that same year, while on combat patrol, a remote improvised explosive device detonated near Christopher. As a result of the blast, Christopher lost both of his legs, two fingers on his left hand, and broke his pelvis in 3 different places. Christopher fought to stay alive. Because of you, on March 25 we welcomed Christopher and his family home.
