Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has publicly explained why he does not want to associate his politics with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna despite growing speculation that the two could form a powerful political alliance.
Speaking during a media interview, Natembeya clarified that his political focus is different from Sifuna’s, insisting that he is concentrating on uniting the Mulembe region and ensuring Western Kenya secures a strong bargaining position ahead of the 2027 elections.
While analysts have compared the two leaders to historic Luhya political icons like Masinde Muliro and Wamalwa Kijana, Natembeya says his priority remains regional unity and development, not national political tours.
But even as Natembeya distances himself from Sifuna’s current political approach, the possibility of the two working together in the future has not been completely ruled out. With Sifuna engaging in nationwide “Linda Mwananchi” tours and Natembeya consolidating Western Kenya support, questions remain about whether their political paths could eventually converge within the United Opposition.
This story breaks down the political strategy, the differences in approach, and what this means for the 2027 elections.
