Located in the heart of Sonoma County, the Russian River Valley benefits from a cool climate influenced by the Pacific Ocean. This maritime effect allows for a long, slow ripening period, ideal for the notoriously finicky Pinot Noir grape. The region's Goldridge soil, a sandy loam rich in minerals, further contributes to the distinctiveness of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Russian River Valley Pinot Noirs are lauded for their balance between fruit-forward characteristics and earthy complexity. Expect a symphony of ripe cherry, raspberry, and plum notes harmoniously entwined with hints of clove, mushroom, and forest floor. 42% Merlot, 29% Petit Verdot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, estate grown
Classic red wine fermentation: after harvest, grapes are destemmed and put in tank with only yeast addition. Pump overs are done once a day, then the wine is pressed off fairly quickly after primary fermentation. Natural malolactic fermentation occurs in French oak barrels: 25% new oak and 75% neutral. Selected barrels are blended in a stainless steel tank, then returned to barrel for a total of 20 months in barrel.
