LAB #5: PERINEAL CARE

IN THIS LAB WE WILL BE LEARNING HOW TO PERFORM PERINEAL CARE.
PERINEAL CARE has 4 different important factors
ensuring the patient is optimal positioning for cleaning (knees bent and spread open, laying or sitting supine
using correct infectious control protocols: (performing hand hygiene , turning the perineal whip to a clean side before each whip and reaching for a new whip if necessary)
cleaning in the appropriate direction: this is going to ensure we are not whipping any e.coli into or around the urethra, managing the spread of infectious bacteria. WE SHOULD MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE WHIPPING THE AREA UNTIL IT IS FULLY CLEAN. (the correct direction is ALWAYS :downwards from top to bottom , or from the outside to the inside)
being professional is important as this is a very vulnerable area for us to be cleaning and we want the patient to be as comfortable as possible- remembering consent and client centred care through the correct verbal communication
