Описание к видео How A Cactus Survives With So Little Water: Xerophytes Explained 🌵

Plants like cacti need very little water to survive. But how does that work? Maynard Okereke, the Hip Hop Science MD, breaks down the adaptations that make xerophytes, our Science Word of the Week, survive and thrive.

Xerophytes have unique features like waxy or hairy leaf coatings, specialized ridges, dense spines, and thick fleshy leaves. These adaptations minimize water loss, direct water to their roots, reduce evaporation, and store water for survival. Xerophytes are nature's champions of thriving in arid conditions.
