Distal Radius Fracture: What You Should Know! 💪🦴

A #DistalRadiusFracture is one of the most common #WristInjuries, often caused by falling onto an outstretched hand. This fracture affects the radius, the larger bone in your forearm, near the wrist.

🏥 How Do You Fix a Distal Radius Fracture?

Diagnosis: It all starts with a physical exam and X-rays to confirm the fracture and assess its severity.

Surgical Treatment (If the Bone is Displaced):
🔹 Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (#ORIF): For severe fractures, surgery may be needed to stabilize the bone. This involves: Making a small incision over the fracture. Using plates, screws, or pins to hold the bone in place. Closing the incision and applying a protective splint.

⏳ Recovery Timeline: 6-12 weeks for bone healing. Physical therapy may follow to restore wrist mobility and strength.
🚨 When to See a Doctor: If you experience wrist pain, swelling, bruising, or difficulty moving your hand after a fall, seek medical attention immediately.
