IMPORTANT NOTICE:

I did not mention in the video that background refresh must be enabled for shortcuts manually, not just turn the feature on.

This trick only works when the app is open and in the foreground unless you have background app refresh turned on over WiFi and cellular and have scrolled down and enabled background refresh for shortcuts. To enable this, go into settings. From here go to general, background app refresh, and then again into background app refresh. Select WiFi and Cellular Data. Now press the back arrow, scroll down to the shortcuts app in the first background refresh page, and enable the switch. This lets it send the text even if you switch to some other app or have your phone off. Also, you can’t swipe up to close it in the app switcher or it will not send the text, as the app is closed and cannot do anything.
