One of the most common patterns I see with early-career vets:
👉 Glucose is high → increase insulin.

But diabetes management isn’t that simple.

Even when a spot glucose or curve looks high, insulin dosing decisions should include:
• The patient’s history
• How they’re acting at home
• Body weight and trends
• Appetite, thirst, energy
• And whether insulin resistance should be on the table

This cat was 10 lbs and receiving 5 units of glargine twice daily — a dose that should immediately raise questions. Before escalating insulin, it’s worth pausing to ask whether something else is driving poor regulation.
