A controversial 2012 law to tax companies retrospectively is set to be scrapped by the govt in a big move that will help companies such as Vodafone and Cairn as well as woo foreign investors. The Indian government has made the move as it proposed a Bill to amend the Income Tax Act. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced The Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha.
