Today's video on POST BOX and Post Bag will be under clause 55 and clause 56 in the Post office guide part1 and it is in paper -2 of the Postman Exam and even in the LGO Exam.

This video will tell you about the Post box and postbag conditions for renting and fees on post box and postbag for renting and deposit amount for local and key.

This is useful for LDCE of GDS to PA and GDS to Postman/Mail Guard Exam.

Advantages of Post Box Services for Firms/Businesses:
1. The mail remains secure and the hirer gets it without loss of time. 
2. The clients need not write their full address and can write only the post box number on letters, parcels etc.
3. The hirer of the post box may open the post box at any time during the business hours of the post office and collect the mail. It also ensures regular and early delivery of mail.
4. It facilitates the collection of mail at the convenience of the renter. 
Key Points on POST BOX and POST Bag are:
1. HoC-determines the post offices
2. Only Fully prepaid unregistered articles + PO Box number
3. Articles NOT delivered through PO Box except:
(i) Legitimate personnel of the firm
(ii) Family/guests
(iii) Trainees/inmates of an institution
(iv) Visitors/commercial representatives
4. Same PO Box Number for allied concerns also-on payment of a separate fee.

5. RL/INS/VP/eMOs—if in PO box exists-Postman delivers otherwise returns.

6. Application for PO Box –Postmaster- with info:
(I) Nature of business
(ii) 2 respectable witnesses (Not required if Govt/known to Postmaster or established identity to satisfaction)
(iii) Business address
7. PO can Withdraw at anytime-w/o reason/notice-if info is incorrect/misused by the renter.
8. Change of address-inform PM within 7 days- failure/wrong info-withdrawal w/o notice/reason.
9. Renter can`t demand any particular number/row/position
10. Rent/renewal in advance.
11. No rent refund-whole/part after allotment.
12. Refund rent-whole/part if claimed before allotment.
13. Rent paid for one box can't be adjusted for another box.
