On 4/30/2025 the Newport & Narragansett Bay Railroad ran an extra to the Newport Park & Ride lot along the Newport Secondary. There they changed ends and headed north with 65 tonner 65-00566 in the lead. This engine arrived on the island last year and has since been painted up in the company scheme. This was the first time this engine has made it this far south and the first time the dinner train consist has made it south of Admiral Kalbfus Crossing in a few years. Soon it'll go even further south when the track reconstruction to Newport Station is done. In this video we follow the train north from the park and ride lot to Melville making photo stops at McAllister's Curve, Greene Lane, Weavers Cove, and Melville. Stay tuned for more footage and updates of the Newport Secondary's south end as more trains start running here soon.
