Five Minute Reedmaker: Rails in the Heart

Описание к видео Five Minute Reedmaker: Rails in the Heart

In email: "Can you talk about (thin) rails going all the way up the reed to the start of the tip (leaving a thin strip of bark in the rails of the heart region), vs. an overall “even” concept of the heart or plateau."

NOTE: I reference Katherine Needleman in this video, as my questioner did. She'd like to disclaim this "rule" about the rails in the heart. She doesn't use them for the reason mentioned, and doesn't wish to be known for this statement.

It's interesting, right? People are fascinated by how the famous folks do what they do - and something that a person says once, in one context, can get shared and reshared in a complicated game of telephone. I get this kind of question a lot - So-and-so says THIS, can you talk about it? And I am always very careful to state that everyone’s reeds are different and no one’s reeds are wrong - and then I offer my take on the THIS in question. Going forward, I plan to be less flippant with how I quote people - because I don't need to be a part of this telephone game!

That said, plenty of people do swear by those shiny rails in the heart of the reed. I do not. No one is wrong! Here I'll show you the DIFFERENCE and what those rails DO.
