Hi, everyone, I'm Evangeline right here at Etrailer. Today we have the Yakima kickstand with the wheel for your Yakima LowRider trailer. This is something that I've really appreciated on the trailer while using it, makes it so much easier to haul around the parking lot in and out of the garage. Yes, it is possible to lift the trailer on its own, but why have to do that when you can make life so much easier with a kickstand So we'll take a look at it, how it works, and I'll also show you how to get it all installed. This is a fixed-height kickstand, so you don't need to adjust it up and down. Where it is right now, the coupler sits 18 inches up and off the ground.

So with that being said, since the trailer is easy to lift up and onto your ball mount, then that wheel really is just there for moving your trailer around. There is something I've found though, which is I wish the kickstand was a little bit taller if I have to go far distances. As you maneuver your trailer around, since it is so low, I do still have to crouch down to get the best grip on that handle. So something that I've actually started doing, which I don't recommend for long term, is if I have a far trek across the parking lot, sometimes I just utilize the safety chains so that I'm at a more comfortable height for pulling. So I don't recommend this because a good grip on the handle means that you have a good grip on the trailer and prevents rolling down inclines.

With everything working together, it does roll very smoothly, even when weighted down. I personally am actually impressed by the quality of the wheel. Now, this isn't in an inflatable tire so it doesn't go flat, but I wouldn't say it's a plastic tire either. I would say it's more of like a rubberized plastic where you have that heavy-duty construction where even though we have our pavement or concrete terrain, this can also go into the water with no issues. It's holding up really well.

And with that five-inch diameter, it's small enough where it is easy to maneuver around sharp turns, but also large enough to make that travel easier. To see the kickstand part of it, I do recommend making sure you install the kickstand or utilize the kickstand when the trailer is secured to a ball mount. You can see that this is now in the air. So before you start driving away, just go ahead and pull the lever on the kickstand, and then you can lift this up and out of the way. That way it doesn't get caught on everything while you are towing your trailer.

Once you arrive at your destination, pull that lever, push this down and it latches into place, is secure, and you're ready to take it back off of your ball mount. Now, your kickstand is gonna include all the hardware, as well as the tool, which is just a size-six Allen key needed to install it. So you're gonna have three bolts on that you are gonna have to install. Line this up with the openings on your trailer. And that will fit right in there, and you can just go ahead and hand tighten that down. This is best and easiest done with the kickstand in the down position. (screw rattling) Fun note, but this is actually the same security Allen key that Yakima includes with a lot of their other products. So if you've ever had to tighten down their ladder rack, this is the same tool, and it is easy to use. After you tighten down all three bolts very securely, I'm actually gonna go at it again with a torque wrench, just to make sure it's tightened down to torque as specified in the instructions. That's gonna be it for the installation of your kickstand. Super simple process, super fast. You could probably do this in five minutes. And now you'll have a really nice kickstand on your trailer. There's plenty of accessories that you could put on your Yakima LowRider. My personal favorite is the spare tire because I always like to be ready for adventure, but my second favorite is definitely this kickstand because it makes things so much easier when hauling your trailer back and forth.
