BJP to provide reservation to Vokkaligas, Lingayat community: Amit Shah ahead of Karnataka polls

Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that BJP will be providing 2 per cent reservation to the two dominant communities Vokkaligas and Lingayat consecutively of Karnataka. The Home Minister was addressing a public gathering after inaugurating the Gorata Martyrs' Memorial and statue of the country's first Home Minister late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Gorata village in the district. Shah alleged that the four per cent reservation provided by the Congress was Constitutionally wrong and they did it only for votes. "There is no provision in the Constitution to provide reservation on the basis of religion", he added. Calling Congress a corrupt party, Shah said that they only want an ATM where they can swipe and take out money every time. Under PM Kisaan Yojana, he said, the government has deposited Rs 10,000 in the bank accounts of 54 lakh farmers in the State. Pointing out the examples of Supreme Court's verdict on Ayodhya's Ram Mandir and provisions made in Article 370 for Kashmir, he reiterated that it was during BJP that it was all made possible and not Congress.
