Dr. Burns is a Clinical Instructor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and is in private practice with a renowned group of plastic surgeons at The Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute. Dr. Burns was raised in Dallas and graduated from Highland Park High School. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Dr. Burns completed his medical training at the University of Texas Medical Branch graduating summa cum laude from the research honors program. As one of the top students, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honorary society. He stayed at the University of Texas Medical Branch where he completed a residency in Plastic Surgery. Also, he completed training in microvascular surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas and cosmetic surgery in Miami, Florida. Dr. Burns completed a fellowship in laser surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. The numerous peer evidences his leadership in the field reviewed articles and book chapters he has published on the subject of plastic and laser surgery. Dr. Burns is a frequent speaker at national meetings and is active in clinical research studies focusing on new laser technology.

Dr. Burns’ philosophy is to achieve the finest possible result with the least risk, this is why Dr. Burns insists on using only physician anesthesiologists for all but the most straightforward of procedures. Dr. Burns operates only in fully accredited facilities such as his surgery center, Dallas Day Surgery Center, Baylor University Medical Center, and Medical City Hospital. HOBBIES, INTERESTS, AND INVOLVEMENT

Dr. Burns and his wife have been married for 13 years. They have three small children who keep him especially busy. Dr. Burns is a little league coach for his children’s YMCA teams, a member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church and the Christian Medical and Dental Society. He is on the Board of Directors and is a contributing surgeon to the Share-A-Smile Foundation, which treats uninsured children with vascular anomalies.
