Most of the time, you will find a lot of people in Dumaguete who think that this city is the best in the Philippines. Reasons can be to retire. There is also a bigger expat scene, but the hype is a bit exaggerated.

Many foreign tourists who arrive in Cebu City and travel to Dumaguete come for the nightlife for a few days, but not longer. But there are some things more to see. In Dumaguete you can find many restaurants and small fast food corners they have overpriced food. So I found this vegan restaurant in Dumaguete, which one is pretty delicious and the price worth. We need more healthy restaurants in the Philippines.

But those who have time should explore Negros Oriental. A rich island full of different natural treasures in the Philippines. There are many hiking trails, the Canlaon volcano, but also a floating beach bar that is not that far from Dumaguete. For adventure travelers, the island of Negros Oriental is definitely worth a longer stay.

Let's come back to the center of Dumaguete. Every tourist will be happy to visit Rizal Boulevard. However, in their tourist bubble, many miss to visit other places such as the Chinese Bell Church or the slums, which most tourists find too dangerous.
