Senator Robinhood Padilla explains his proposed bill to suspend the excise tax on fuel products as global oil prices threaten to breach the $80 per barrel mark, potentially pushing local pump prices to P80 per liter. Padilla argues that while the government will lose revenue, as pointed out by Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, the welfare of Filipinos who will be affected by the subsequent rise in the prices of basic commodities should be prioritized.

Padilla also turned his ire on government agencies such as the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWA), after receiving numerous complaints from Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the Middle East who could not contact government hotlines amid an escalating conflict. The senator, who said his office and the office of Senator Raffy Tulfo received complaints, lambasted the personnel on the ground for being unavailable during a crisis and vowed to press for accountability.
