We’re Working For You to keep Cambridgeshire safe and moving as the colder months arrive.

Your feedback in the Quality of Life survey showed that roads and transport are among your top concerns. That’s why we’ve been preparing early to make sure our roads, paths, and cycleways are as safe as possible this winter.

Our 38 gritters and two quad bikes are ready to head out whenever needed, supported by fully stocked salt barns holding 100,000 tonnes of rock salt and refilled grit bins across the county.

Last winter, our crews went out 57 times, often through the night and into the early hours, gritting routes to help residents travel safely. They’re joined by a wonderful network of local volunteers who lend their time to keep pavements and paths clear for those on foot. It’s not just the roads we care for, we also look after more than 110,000 drains across Cambridgeshire. Crews have been busy clearing and repairing them to help prevent flooding before the cold weather sets in.

Together, these efforts support safer, more sustainable travel and ensure that every community, rural or urban, feels prepared and cared for this winter.
