Of these savings, nearly 60 percent of users indicated that less than 10 percent of the net savings were absorbed by the TMS. These freight savings can be attributed to network design, load consolidation, multi-stop route optimization, improved data for procurement, and freight audit.

Transportation execution solutions, which focus on one mode and lack optimization capabilities, may be suitable for shippers that don’t have complex requirements. Logistics service providers provide managed transportation services to the market; basically, they use their own TMS solution to plan and execute loads on behalf of their clients.
