Canada’s financial intelligence agency FINTRAC says its efforts have hit record numbers: over 2,700 unique disclosures and more than 1.3 million financial transactions flagged in the 2024-25 year alone—covering money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion and other major financial crimes. Despite those strides, the scale of illicit finance remains large and evolving, reinforcing how complex the challenge is for regulators and law-enforcement working in tandem.
