Comedian podcasters like Joe Rogan, Tim Dillon, and Dave Smith use humour to discuss the political issues of the day and, as Douglas Murray can testify, attempts to be serious can seriously backfire.

A range of Milan Kundera’s work including his essay “Paths in the Fog” and the novels “The Joke” and “Slowness” are used to question of what has been lost when what he calls “the wisdom of the novel” is replaced by the rise of seriously important comedians – expert jokers with global microphones.
