Corey Taylor - CMFT Unboxing (with signed Insert)

Corey Taylor has expressed the desire to release a solo album one day since 2010. Over the years Corey wrote many songs that, for stylistic reasons, couldn't be used for his two bands. With the solo album he wanted to show his influences.

Corey originally wanted to tackle the album from January 2021 after a Slipknot tour should've ended. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all tours had to be canceled and he preferred to work on his solo album. The songs written by Corey are stylistically very different from the music of his main bands and cover several genres. He put together a band of musician friends who could play different styles for the recordings. Zach Throne and Christian Martucci were chosen for the guitars, Jason Christopher (Prong) played the bass and Dustin Schoenhofer (Walls of Jericho) played the drums.

The album was recorded in the Hideout Studios in Las Vegas with music producers Jay Ruston and Kevin Churko. In order to avoid illness, the producers and musicians isolated themselves in the studio for two weeks and stayed away from other people. According to Corey, this measure helped everyone to focus on the album. Plus, the recordings for his solo album would have been the most pleasant since Slipknot's debut album.

The album title CMFT stands for "Corey Mother Fucking Taylor". The song HWY 666 is based on notes Corey made during class during his high school years. He found these notes in the attic of his grandmother's house. Regarding the song Meine Lux, Taylor explained that he heard this song in a dream. In his opinion, the German possessive pronoun "Meine" in connection with the name of The Cramps singer "Lux Interior" would "sound phonetically good".

Corey dedicated several songs to his wife Alicia, who would inspire him not only in life but also musically. Black Eyes Blue and Kansas are about trips together. For the song Home, which he also dedicated to his wife, he learned to play the piano. According to Corey, the song Halfway Down would be his homage to the AC / DC era with singer Bon Scott.

Samantha’s Gone is about getting rid of your alcohol problems and leaving them behind. The song Silverfish is about just lying in bed and having quiet hours to get rid of depression. With the song Culture Head Taylor reflects the political mood in the United States, in which the extreme right vies with the extreme left for power. The song CMFT Must Be Stopped is directed against racism.

European Tour Bus Bathroom Song refers to a sign on the tour bus toilet stating that the toilet paper should not be thrown in the toilet but in a bin.
