THIS IS NOT A PAID REVIEW. I purchased this lockbox from my own money, and every word of this review is my personal feedback, totally unscripted. I was looking for a lockbox that allows me:
Issue one-time use digital unlock codes
Codes that expire after allotted time
Issue codes while I am miles away from lockbox
lock-box is reliable , not easily breakable

In year 2018 when I found this Masterlock Bluetooth Digital lockbox Model 5440D it was new in the market and there were no USER reviews ... just tons of reviews by manufacturers - which I don't care much about. So I created this video for the benefit of anyone else looking for this info. It still works well in 2023!

FEATURES I LOVE:
Heavy lockbox
Good space inside
Open it by punching code or use App on phone
Issue Temp unlock codes on demand from anywhere!
Issue Secondary unlock codes for longer duration

HOW THE UNLOCK CODES WORK:

A) Temporary Unlock Codes:
=======================
Create them as needed even when miles away from the lock !! and text them to anyone to use/open the lockbox. Unlock codes work for 4 hour internal (now updated to 8 hrs with updated app) and can't be extended - but can issue a new unlock code.

BENEFIT:
The code expires and you don't have to worry about anyone re-using the code after their allowed time.

ISSUE:
If the user's arrival is delayed code expires and you have to issue a new code. OVERALL: This is what I used the most for Turo VRBO AirBnB ... for simple reason that it was simplest to use and I could issue new code as needed while miles away from lockbox.

B) Secondary Unlock codes:
======================
The Masterlock App stores five 'Secondary Unlock Codes' which do not expire , have no time constraint, and can be used anytime repeatedly!! These are not pre-set, and I can select the digits as needed. Code can be used again or erased after each use. If a Secondary Code is erased then in its place you can set a New secondary code.

BENEFIT: Code does not expire! Best for If you have a contractor working at your place for several days, this is the best code to give the contractor so they can use for as many days as needed for their work.

ISSUE: to add new secondary codes app needs to resync lock w/ app which requires physical presence of my phone near lock! Not doable if you are away from the lock for extended period of time.

c) Open with Bluetooth / App as 'Guest'

I can ask user to download the app and then sync their phone/lock with the app and then use the app to unlock the lockbox when they arrive. As you can see this is a long process and not a quick and fast solution. Probably works best for trusted friends , nanny, cleaners, or others who need to have access on an on-going basis. This option wasn't workable for my situation so I didn't use it.

REMOVE THE SHACKLE:
To mount the lock on door handle or anywhere, one has to remove the shackle pin through the app or by using 'Primary' code built into the app. ... In summary it is a PAIN to remove even when I use the primary unlock code, OR the Masterlock app. It just won't open . TERRIBLE functionality to remove the shackle!! Takes 15 to 20 mins of messing with it to open. . Just keep this in mind this when buying. wish the shackle was easy to remove.

MY CONCLUSION:
Not the perfect lockbox and LOTS of room for Masterlock to improve. But the digital code to open close the lockbox work perfectly and that is the core of the functionality. Hopefully the Masterlock will improve.
