I love this card game! Let me know in the comments section if you have played a similar game by a different name, or with slightly different rules. I would love to try your version!

-- How to play Plump --

1. Set up a score sheet. 20 rows, numbered from 10 down to 1, and then 1 up to 10.
2. Deal 10 cards to each player. Use less cards if playing with more than 5 people.
3. The player left of the dealer starts betting. Nominate exactly how many tricks you think you will win (no more or less). Each player says one number as their bet, which is recorded in their column of the score sheet.
4. The last player's bet cannot make the sum of the bets equal the number of cards in the hand for this round.
5. Whoever had the largest bet leads the first trick. In the case of a tie for the largest bet, the first player left of the dealer leads.
6. Players must follow suit if they have the suit that was led.
7. The highest card belonging to the suit that was led wins the trick.
8. The winner of a trick leads the next trick.
9. Once the last trick of the hand has been played, check the number of tricks won against the players' bets. If the bet was successful, put a 1 before the bet (e.g. a bet of 3 scores 13 points). If the bet was unsuccessful, scribble over / cross out the bet to give them a score of 0.
10. The next player to the left deals next. Continue steps 2-9 with 9 cards, then 8, etc down to 2.
11. When each player has only one card, they hold the card on their forehead so everyone else can see their card but they can not. All other rules are the same for the 1-card rounds.
12. Repeat everything again, but now starting from 1 card and finishing the last hand with 10 cards.
13. The player with the highest total score wins.
