COMMON TAILORBIRD Couple hard at work building Nest.

Their nest looked all sewn up, & this pair of Common Tailorbirds were at the stage of laying down the soft foundation of their little coccooned nest.
All afternoon, they were busy flying to & from nest, repeatedly carrying soft nesting material to cushion their nest.
As their name suggests, tailorbirds are ingenious builders capable of fashioning amazing nests by stitching leaves together. They cleverly make mini punctures at the edges of the leaves, & then proceed to stitch adjoining leaves together using fibre. The overall result is a beautiful, well-camouflaged & comfortable home to raise their young.
The Common Tailorbird is a common resident in Singapore.
