I am Der Geher and sometimes I walk through other cities. This time it passes through Wolfsburg. From the market place through the pedestrian zone and along the Porschestraße. After the phæno at Willi-Brandt-Platz the route goes over the city bridge to VW's Autostadt. Past the Volkswagen Arena, home of VfL Wolfsburg, the walk leads north to Schlosspark and Wolfsburg Castle, after which the city is named.

Wolfsburg was founded as the "City of the KdF Car near Fallersleben" in 1938 to serve as a place of residence for employees of the Volkswagen factory. The KdF-Wagen, the later VW Beetle, was built here. Wolfsburg Castle, on the other hand, was mentioned as early as 1302. Over the years, it developed from a residential tower to a moated castle and to its current appearance. It was a major employer, especially in the 17th century. Today, Wolfsburg has a population of about 125,000.
