ISKCON SRIRAMA DHASAN

Lord Krishna’s birth is a divine miracle. Born to Devaki and Vasudeva in a prison cell, Krishna was destined to end the tyranny of his uncle, King Kamsa. As soon as he was born, Krishna's father Vasudeva carried him across the Yamuna River to Gokul, where he was raised by Yashoda and Nanda. Even as a baby, Krishna performed miracles, such as lifting the entire Govardhan Hill to protect his devotees from a torrential storm sent by Indra, the king of gods.

Krishna and the Butter Thief
As a child, Krishna was notorious for his love of butter. He would sneak into the homes of the Gopis (cowherd women) in Gokul and steal their butter. One day, the Gopis decided to tie Krishna up to a mortar to prevent him from stealing their butter. But Krishna used his divine powers to easily free himself, and he ended up playing pranks and stealing more butter, delighting the people around him with his mischievous antics.

The Story of Krishna and Sudama
Sudama, a poor Brahmin and a childhood friend of Krishna, visited Dwaraka in hopes of receiving some help. He arrived with only a handful of beaten rice to offer Krishna. Despite his poverty, Sudama was filled with devotion to Krishna. When he met Krishna, the Lord welcomed him with open arms and offered him lavish gifts, transforming his life. The story highlights the importance of true devotion and how Krishna rewards his devotees with love and blessings.

Krishna and the Kaliya Serpent
Kaliya, a poisonous serpent, had taken residence in the Yamuna River, poisoning its waters and terrorizing the people of Vrindavan. Krishna, with his divine powers, jumped into the river and engaged in a battle with Kaliya. By dancing on Kaliya’s many heads, Krishna subdued the serpent, and Kaliya, in gratitude, promised to leave the river. This story emphasizes Krishna's power and his ability to protect his devotees from harm.
