Hey, guys! It’s unfortunately official – no Season 5 for Roswell New Mexico as the mystery drama series ended on September 5 after four seasons. This was not your typical show cancellation though: The CW pulled the plug on TEN shows (that’s two more than was renewed) in one huge cancellation sweep back in May. This move was due to the network’s impending sale and NOT the shows’ ratings, which can hardly serve as a consolation for the fans of Roswell New Mexico, Dynasty, Charmed and many others. The Roswell New Mexico cancellation came just one month before the Season 4 premiere and after all the episodes were filmed. So originally, the Season 4 finale episode was NOT written as a series finale. Showrunner Chris Hollier said in the recent Variety interview that there was one scene they ultimately decided to change. The Season 4 finale had originally the console melted, with Max trapped and Liz uncertain if she would ever see her fiancée again. That would have been a perfect cliffhanger ending should there be a Season 5. But the creative team decided to remove that scene once they learned the show was canceled not to upset fans. Not all the storylines were wrapped up since the team didn’t know it would be the end, but fans should be excited to finally see Max and Liz getting engaged and Michael and Alex tying the knot.
