• To complete this SAM Project, you will also need to download and save the following data files from the SAM website onto your computer:
o Support_WD19_EOM6-2_New.mdb
o When saving the file to your computer, be sure not to change the file extension.
• With the file SC_WD19_EOM6-2_FirstLastName_2.docx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the footer.
o If the footer does not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
PROJECT STEPS
1. As part of the Sales Department at JB Wireless, you are preparing a form letter to send to new business customers in the Cleveland area.

To set up the document as a form letter, start the Step-by-Step Mail Merge Wizard, accept Letters as the document type, and then choose to use the current document as the starting document. Use the file Support_WD19_EOM6-2_New.mdb as the recipient list.

Edit the data source to customize the columns in the recipient list by renaming the Client field to Business Name to use a less ambiguous term. Rename the ZIP Code field to use Postal Code as the new field name. Delete the E-mail Address field, which does not contain any data. Edit the recipient data by adding smartphone as the Device for Nicole Garcia.
2. Continue to Step 4 in the Mail Merge Wizard, and then use the Date content control with the "CLICK TO SELECT A DATE" placeholder text to select the date March 25, 2021.
3. Replace the placeholder text "INSERT INSIDE ADDRESS" with an AddressBlock merge field using the Joshua Randall Jr. format. Match the Company field to the Business Name field so that the business name appears in the inside address.
4. Replace the placeholder text "INSERT GREETING LINE" with a GreetingLine merge field using the Dear Joshua Randall Jr., format.
5. In the first paragraph in the body of the letter, replace the "[DEVICE]" placeholder text with the "Device" merge field to include the name of the device the customer recently purchased. Replace the "[POSITION]" placeholder text with the "Position" merge field to include the position of each recipient. Replace the "[BUSINESS NAME]" placeholder text with the "Business_Name" merge field to include the name of each business.
6. At the end of the last paragraph in the body of the letter, insert an IF field that compares whether the Device field is equal to smartphone. If it is, insert the following sentence:

Your new smartphone already includes the JB Drive app.

Otherwise, insert the following sentence:

Visit jbwireless.example.com to download the JB Drive app.
7. Continue to Step 5 of the Mail Merge wizard, and then filter the recipient list to select only businesses located in Lakewood so that you can prepare their form letters first. Sort the filtered list in ascending order by Last Name to generate the letters in alphabetic order by the recipient's last name.
8. Continue to Step 6 of the Mail Merge wizard, and then merge all records to a new document. In the new document containing the merged form letters, press CTRL+A to select all contents in the document, and then copy the selected text to the Office Clipboard.

In the original form letter document, paste the merged form letters in the blank paragraph at the top of page 2 so that all of your assignment appears in the same file. Delete the page break, the Next Page section break, and the extra paragraph mark at the bottom of page 3 to make the document three pages long. Turn off the preview of the mail merge results, and save the original form letter document. Close the new, merged document without saving it.
Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. Note: When opening your file or the Graded Summary report for this Project, you may be prompted to Select From “Office Address List”. Select No in the dialog box to view your report. Save your changes, close the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
