Crude Oil Desalting and Three Phase Separation with Aspen HYSYS

This tutorial explains how to model a three-phase separation or desalting process of crude oil in Aspen HYSYS. Details about the factors that govern separation in the three phase separator such as density, duty, temperature etc. are highlighted. The feed to the separator is a three phase mixture of gas, water and crude oil. The crude oil used is the Escravos crude blend obtained from the Aspen HYSYS petroleum assay library.
