Celebrate Kew's 250th Anniversary
The new orchid displays have been designed to look like ribbons around a birthday present, to celebrate Kew's 250th anniversary in 2009.

The Tropical Extravaganza is the first in a series of celebratory events planned for the year.

Darwin's Orchids See specimens collected by Charles Darwin during his voyage on HMS Beagle. Darwin studied orchids when he was developing his theory of evolution. February 2009 marks the 200th anniversary of his birth.

Darwin's Garden Lecture Find out about Charles Darwin's garden laboratory and learn how the experiments he did over 150 years ago are still relevant today, with Michael Boulter from the Natural History Museum. (24 Feb)

Orchid Open Evening Visit the Princess of Wales Conservatory for a special open evening and champagne reception. (6 Feb)

Valentine's Dinner Say it with flowers and treat your loved one to a champagne reception in the Princess of Wales Conservatory followed by dinner in the Orangery restaurant. (13 Feb)

Tropical Nursery Tours Enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of Kew's 6,500m2 Tropical Nursery, which is normally closed to the public. (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 Feb-5 March)
